Impotence indicates heart diseases because impotence is observed majority of patients suffering from heart diseases. So, it was observed that the impotence and heart diseases are inter-related, whereas impotence is one of the symptoms of the heart disease.

Impotence is the inability of the male sex organ to get and sustain the erection. Impotence is not life threatening, whereas heart diseases which the impotence indicates are life threatening and really dangerous.

Impotence is caused by less amount of blood supply to the male reproductive organ during the erection so the person will not be able to get the harder erection and if at all he gets the erection, it will not last for a very short duration and the person will fail to have intercourse. Atherosclerosis is a disease affecting arteries (blood vessels), which supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart, legs, brain, and male reproductive organ. Reduced blood supply through the arteries is mainly because of the plaque that builds on the inner walls of the arteries. Atherosclerosis is caused by high cholesterol levels, obesity, smoking, and high blood pressure. The same factors that raise your risk of atherosclerosis in the arteries in your male reproductive organ also increase your chances of coronary artery disease.

The arteries supplying blood to your male reproductive organ are smaller than the ones that supply blood to your heart so the arteries which supply blood to male reproductive organ may first get affected by the atherosclerosis and reduce the supply of blood to the male reproductive organ resulting into the impotence.

A study was conducted to prove that impotence and cardiovascular disease are related. The study revealed that 64 percent of men who had heart attacks had impotence before they knew they had cardiovascular disease. Hence, it was confirmed that impotence is one of the symptoms of heart disease. So, impotence helps you by giving you the prior intimation that you might be suffering from the heart disease.
