I have just treated myself to a MA897LL A Apple Mac Pro Notebook. An upgrade was required and after a lot of research this model came out top.There are literally thousands of notebook computers available on the market today. With so many options available it is tough to figure out what the best bang for the buck is any more. I have to say that my experience (my first computer ran on MS DOS) has led me to believe that as of today Apple is winning the war on the portable market. The MA897LL A is a brilliant machine The MacBook computers are the best value on the market today for both student and professional alike. I will try and justify this statement below with a list of reasons.1. Quality: Apple has from it's outset proceeded down the quality road over gimmicks and the need to launch a new model every month. Yes the MA897LL a is at the top end but quality exudes throughout the range. They work right out of the box, have lovely screens that are clear and easy on the eyes a nd most importantly, they are reliable.2. OSX: The core Mac Operating System is a stable and secure that in this authors humble opinion kicks the butt of windows XP and vista with almost no real effort. PC's are prone to virus attacks whilst the mac attracts far fewer. A big bonus in my book.The mac MA897LL a is less prone to crashes and the software runs smoothly with far less problems than a PC. Now of course with the introduction of Parallels and Boot Camp you can run windows on your mac MA897LL A if you really need to.3. Weight and Design: Simply put the MacBook just MA897LL A feels better to me than any PC notebook I have ever found, be it the unique power cord MAG safe connector, or the built in web cam, or the inclusion of features like a back-lit keyboard (MacBook Pro and MacBook air) the units just seem better built to me on every level. One of my pet grumbles is battery life but here the mac is way in front of the PC(authors note: the MacBooks have a power indicato r attached to their battery so even with the unit powered off you can check how much remaining power you have left, just another nice feature).One feature I particularly like is the power indicator on the mac which tells you how much power is left even when switched off. Finally the MacBooks are very thin and weigh very little compared to PC notebooks of similar specs, The MacBook Air is of course the thinnest and lightest of them but the MacBook and especially the MA897LL A Pro are quite impressive in their own right.4. Amazing Apps: The additional software included with the macbook MA897LL A is superb. Included with the OS is a really good email client, Video chat tools, Calendar, contact manager and of course the brilliant Safari web browser.. The MacBook MA897LL A also come with Ilife which frankly rocks for most peoples creative needs. Iphoto is a powerful image organizer with solid editing options built right in. Imovie is a great little video editor and has features t hat surpassed my every expectation in a free app. You can build a web site with the lweb tool allowing you to make your presence on the web immediately. Garage band is an excellent way to produce your own music instantly. Really good fun this. Idvd is a great authoring tool that lets you build movies and slide shows fast and is one of my favorite tools to use day to day.5. Price: I realize that macs look more expensive than PC's but they are far better value in the long term Next consider the cost of software, the mac already includes many of the tools you would need to purchase for your PC notebook. The cost of Work ($79.00) is less than Microsoft Office by almost half and frankly has in my experience a more friendly suite of apps some of which i think actually out do Microsoft's offerings by quite a bit. Lifespan is not brilliant on any notebook due to the constant advancement of technology but after say 5 years the mac is still worth something, which I don't believe is tr ue of the PC. I hope this information has swayed you to consider investing in the apple family of notebook computers. I love the MA897LL A.
