Article Submission Sites: Where To Submit Your Article - Website Promotion

In this article we'll be covering some very basic information about article submission sites. You've written your first article, now where should you submit it?

There are 4 major types of publishers to submit articles to:

1 - Article Directories.

You've probably heard of article directories. These are websites that specialize in publishing free reprint articles on various topics.

When you submit your article to an article directory, you're placing it at a major hub for other publishers. Many times website owners will go to an article directory to search for content that they'd like to publish on their sites.

In this way, article directories are "middle men". They are the go between for the author of the content (you) and the online publishers.

There are tons of article directories on the internet, and you can find lists of the top ones by doing a Google search. If you're submitting articles by hand, it's best to pick the top 3-5 article directories and focus your attention there.

2 - Ezine Editors.

Do you subscribe to any newsletters that you receive by email? If so, you know what an ezine is. Each ezine has an ezine editor who compiles the content for the ezine.

The ezine editor will sometimes look for content that other people have written that is on his subject. He will include your resource box with a link to your website in the ezine itself, so people who receive the ezine can find out more about you at your website.

Depending on the size of the ezine's list of subscribers, articles that are republished in ezines can generate a large boost in traffic for a short while, which is exciting.

If you're submitting articles manually, you can compile a list of ezine editors. Here's what to look for:

* The ezine editor must be looking for content on your subject matter.

* The ezine editor must be accepting new content.

This information can change regularly, so if you're going to maintain your own list, it's a good idea to update it every month.

3 - Announcement lists.

An announcement list is a mailing list that specializes in free reprint articles. Many times the announcement list will specialize in a certain topic. People will subscribe to announcement lists so that they can receive the articles that the list is distributing.

People who subscribe to announcement lists can be website owners and ezine editors who are looking for content, authors who are wanting to submit content, or both.

When an article is submitted to an announcement list, it is sent out to the entire list. So, if you submit to several announcement lists, you can effectively reach tons of publishers who could potentially publish your content.

How can you submit to an announcement list?

In order to submit to them you need to be subscribed to the list and receive the content that everyone else is submitting. This is a down side that you can sort of get around--set up an email address that is just for announcement list notices. You can set up a free email through gmail or Yahoo.

This way, when the announcement list notices come flooding in, they won't clog up your regular email account.

4 - Blog Publishers.

Blog publishers are niche specific websites that are great for your article to be published on. Because blogs are frequently updated and can have very targeted content, they often rank higher in Google. The backlinks they give can also be more powerful. To top it off, when your article is published on a website that has lots of other content on a topic similar to yours, usually the readership will be more interested in your topic.

There are all sorts of publishers that you can submit your articles to. You may want to focus on just one type, but it's best to submit to as many different types of publishers as you can.
